"2010: A Wan Chai Odyssey" Short-film Comissioning & DVD Project: Wan Chai, being the earliest area in which the Chinese resided a hundred years ago, is now a district that blends both the new and the old faces of Hong Kong, with its multi-cultural characteristics - which makes it an excellent location for all kinds of stories to bloom and blossom. Join us on the odyssey to the Wan Chai district, and come up with your own vision!
Co-organized by Ying E Chi and the Wan Chai Cultural and Leisure Services Committee, "2010: A Wan Chai Odyssey" is now open for proposals on short-film production to encourage and subsidize film projects that endeavors to tell the story of Wan Chai district!

Super8 Workshop Series - The Second Blow: Super8 Shooting Weekends!
Yearning to shoot with a Super8 camera yourselves? Time for the main course after the warm-up screening: join our shooting weekends on 12 & 13 June!
Details:
12/6 (Sat) 2pm - 6pm: On the firt Day, Jam will introduce the ABC of Super8 cinematography and operations. Students can pick up the cameras and have a try on indoor b&w shooting!
13/6 (Sun) 2pm - 6pm: Want to have a taste of film-development? Jam will show you how it's like with the roll of b&w films, and while the films are being dried up, students will explore with color films - this time in outdoor areas!
As developments of color films would take at least two weeks, students are invited to attend the after-course screening to share your very own visions together!
Remarks: One Super8 camera for a team of three. The workshop would be conducted in Cantonese. Course fee: HKD 980 each (Films and developments expenses included) 20 seats available only - ENROL NOW at info@yec.com !

Two brilliant Chinese documentaries, <Useless>by Jia Zhang-Ke and <Umbrella...> by Du Hai-bin will be screened in the Grand cinema starting from 2 Oct! Both films are in Competition, Horizons, 64th Venice Film Festival; and won the Horizons Documentary Award. Director Jessey Tsang Tsui-shan made her debut in HKIFF 2008, the film Lovers on the Road had its world premeire on 30Mar. Both male casts Dick So and Otsuka Masanobu were there and audiences appreciated their natural method of acting. There is film critique refers the film as simple but nice to watch.
